This is the shocking moment a firework was thrown into a young woman's hood before exploding.

The incident took place near the Railway Street area of Dublin 1 in recent days.

The video captured a young male approaching the victim from behind, before lighting a firework and running away.

The female then runs from the group and attempts to get rid of the firework, before it explodes in her hood.

Shockingly, as the firework explodes, a number of people can be heard laughing.

The victim suffered a number of burns to her head and body.

It is not known if a complaint has yet been made to gardai.

Earlier this month, emergency workers issued a stark warning after a person was burnt by a firework in the capital.

Dublin Fire Brigade posted a tweet showing damage to clothing after a "banger" was thrown at a member of the public.

In a tweet the fire service said:

"The Halloween silly season has started. A person has been treated for burns after a banger was thrown at them resulting in a burn injury."

The pictures show holes burnt through the clothing of the person in question.

Last year, Dublin Fire Brigade had nearly 900 calls on Halloween night alone.

In total, there were 872 calls made on the 31st of October, 2016.
