Gardaí are appealing for witnesses
This is the moment the owner of a popular handbag store in Dublin city centre was hit with a bike chain after a raider tried to rob the till.
The CCTV footage below shows Paddy Coughlan, founder of the Designer Exchange, bravely standing up to the man as he approached the counter.
After a brief struggle, Mr Coughlan was then struck with a bike chain across the arm and the raider fled the store.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
"The suspect is described as approx 6ft tall, medium build, wearing a black hooded top with white stripes along the side. He was also wearing dark Nike tracksuit bottoms and black runners," a garda spokesman said.
The incident happened at Designer Exchange on Exchequer Street at around 6.30pm on Saturday, February 10.
"The outpouring of support from our customers and people online has been incredible and we thank everybody for this," Mr Coughlan told Independent.ie.
