Creighton set to lose job with vote on abortion bill

Fiach Kelly Political Correspondent

Lucinda Creighton is poised to vote against the abortion legislation tonight and lose her job as European Affairs Minister and the Fine Gael whip.

Ahead of a dramatic day for the Coalition, Taoiseach Enda Kenny is braced to lose even more Fine Gael TDs due to the abortion legislation.

And Mr Kenny has come under fire from the European party Fine Gael belongs to for not allowing his TDs a free vote on abortion.

The vote is scheduled to take place at 10pm, however, there is an expectation the Government will allow the debate to extend the vote a number of hours beyond this.
