Youth has sentence for house burglary adjourned
SENTENCING of a youth, who took part in a house burglary during which €4,650 worth of cash and jewellery was stolen, has been adjourned for a community service report to be completed.
The 17-year-old had entered a guilty plea earlier at the Children's Court to a charge of burglary, which occurred on August 31 last year, at Allen Park Road, in Stillorgan, in south Dublin.
His solicitor Gareth Noble said previously that since the teenager pleaded guilty in April, he had to leave the country for a period due to trouble with another family.
In June the court had then heard that the teenager has returned and he could be assessed by the Probation and Welfare Service to determine whether he is suitable for a community service sanction.
Today the boy and his mother turned up for his hearing. However, Judge Clare Leonard heard that further time was needed for the boy's probation officer to prepare a report on the boy's suitability for community service.
Judge Leonard adjourned the case for three weeks. The court had heard earlier that the boy had two prior convictions for trespassing.
