Youth (16) charged for smashing squad car window with beer bottle
A YOUTH has been charged after he allegedly threw a beer bottle at a Garda car and smashed one of its windows.
The 16-year-old was charged with criminal damage to the patrol car at Kingswood Heights in Tallaght, Dublin, on April 29 last.
Garda Larry Dempsey told Judge Ann Ryan at the Dublin Children's Court that it would be alleged that he was on his way to help colleagues when the boy “threw a glass Budweiser bottle at the patrol car”.
Judge Ryan was told that the driver's window in the car was smashed. The teenager, who was accompanied to his case by his mother, was remanded on bail to appear again in three weeks when he is to enter a plea to the charge.
The teen, who made no reply when charged, was granted legal aid after the judge heard that he is waiting to get a place on a training course.
