Woman who said she was cut from lover's will settles action

A WOMAN who claimed she was cut from her lover's will after 25 years together has settled her High Court action.

Bridget 'Breege' Lennon (60) took the action against the son of the late Bernard 'Ben' Smyth (80) after she was left nothing in Mr Smyth's will when he died.

In her action she sought an order that Michael Smyth should fulfil the promise his father made when he said she was to be left a house and around three acres at Cornacarrow, Drung, Co Cavan.

However, unknown to Ms Lennon, Mr Smyth -- who died in 2005 -- made another will which left everything to his son.

Michael Smyth had claimed that Ms Lennon was only his father's housekeeper.

But yesterday Ms Lennon's counsel told Mr Justice Roderick Murphy the matter had been settled.
