Two men have been charged in connection with a robbery that occurred outside a Dublin supermarket yesterday afternoon.

Gardaí have charged two men, aged in their late 20s and mid 30s, in connection with the robbery that occurred outside a supermarket in Balgaddy, Lucan at around 2 p.m.

The two men are due to appear before District Court 2, Criminal Courts of Justice, Dublin this afternoon.

The men were arrested yesterday afternoon following a robbery in which a firearm was produced.

The suspects left the scene in a Ford Mondeo.

This vehicle was abandoned on Esker Lane a short time later and a number of Gardaí carried out a search of the area and two men were arrested.

They were both detained at Lucan Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939-'98 as amended.

Gardaí recovered the proceeds of the robbery, and a firearm.
