Two men charged after €123,000 taken from pensioners home
TWO men have been remanded in custody after they were charged in connection with the theft of €123,000 during a burglary at the home of a pensioner in Co Cork.
Malcolm Kelly (26) from Coolageela, Kanturk and Ger Ryan (30) from Park View, Charleville were both charged at Cork District Court today in relation to the burglary.
Det Garda Padraig Reddington gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution in respect of Mr Kelly and told the court that he made no reply to charge after it was put to him after caution.
Sgt Paul Ahern gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution in relation to Mr Ryan and told the court that he too made no reply.
Judge Tim Lucey granted both men free legal aid and remanded them in custody to appear again at Mallow District Court next Tuesday.
