Trucker hurt in golf-buggy accident loses damages bid

A MAN injured when a golf buggy he was driving toppled over, trapping his leg, has lost a claim for compensation.

Evan Stack (42), pictured, a truck driver in the film industry of Loggan, Gorey, Co Wexford, sued Leinster Hills Golf Club and Development Company over the incident at the Carlow club on June 26, 2010.

He claimed the electric golf cart was defective because the brakes locked as he was driving down an incline near the eighth tee.

The club said the incident was his fault because he was driving too fast, which Mr Stack denied.

Yesterday, High Court president Mr Justice Nicholas Kearns said he had no alternative but to dismiss the claim after finding the buggy was not defective.
