Trial set over possession of stolen monkey

A MAN is to go on trial in November for alleged possession of a stolen monkey and a stun gun.

Paul Murtagh (28), of Birchdale Park, Kinsealy, Co Dublin, and Lighthouse Apartments, East Wall, Dublin, denies possession of a South American Marmoset worth €1,500.

He allegedly had the animal at Ravensdale Road, East Wall, on October 1 last year. Mr Murtagh also pleaded not guilty to unlawful possession of a stun gun at Marlborough Place, Dublin 1, on October 27, 2009.

He had been due to face trial at Dublin District Court on January 17, but a garda ballistics expert, required to give evidence in relation to the alleged stun gun seizure, was not available.
