Trial of former Adam Clayton PA taken up with legal argument

THE trial of Adam Clayton’s former personal assistant for theft was taken up with legal argument today and is expected to resume in evidence on Tuesday.

Carol Hawkins (47) of Lower Rathmines Road, Dublin pleaded not (NOT) guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to 181 counts of theft from two of Mr Clayton’s Bank of Ireland accounts over a four year period from 2004 to 2008. The alleged thefts totalled €2, 862,567.



On day fourteen of the trial Judge Patrick McCartan sent the jury of seven men and five women home for the day and asked them to return at 10.30am on Tuesday when defence counsel Ken Fogarty SC will continue his cross-examination of the U2 bass guitarist.
