Tranquillisers being sold on street for €2
TRANQUILLISER tablets are being sold on the street for as little as €2, a court has heard.
Dublin Children's Court was told that 78 diazepam tablets were found in a jacket pocket of a 17-year-old boy.
The youth was arrested in January on suspicion of being drunk in public and searched at west Dublin garda station.
The bag of tablets carried a prescription in the name of another person.
Judge Michael Walsh heard that the street value of the tablets was €156.
The teenager claimed that before gardai came on the scene, he had lent the jacket to another male for about an hour and did not know the tablets were there until he was searched.
Judge Walsh found the youth not guilty.
