Three-year-old who injured arm at Cork Airport awarded €15,000 in damages

A THREE-year-old Co Waterford girl, who injured her hand and arm on a baggage conveyor belt at Cork airport, has been awarded €15,000 damages in the Circuit Civil Court.

Circuit Court President, Mr Justice Matthew Deery, was told today that Emma Kavanagh, now aged seven, had climbed up on the baggage belt at the airport on August 14, 2008.

Her mother, Elaine Kavanagh, of Winter Wood, Kooneen, Kilmeaden, Co Waterford, said in an affidavit that Emma had caught her right hand and forearm on the belt.

Judge Deery approved a €15,000 settlement award from Dublin Airport Authority which runs the Cork Airport.
