Three men charged over beach riot
THREE men have been charged with public order offences after a riot broke out on Portmarnock Beach.
There were ugly scenes when gangs of youths began throwing bottles and other objects at each other on Thursday, as innocent bystanders enjoyed the fine weather.
The three men, aged 19, 20 and 21, appeared before a sitting of Blanchardstown District Court in Dublin yesterday where they were formally charged.
It is understood that a fight broke out after one group of youths began to insult another group.
There were no serious injuries but three suspects were subsequently arrested.
