The murder of Mr Moonlight: An podcast special with Paul Williams Newsdesk Newsdesk

The motivations and the mistakes...

Earlier this week, Patrick Quirke was found guilty of the murder of part-time DJ Bobby Ryan, following a 15-week trial that gripped the nation.

Quirke had pleaded not guilty to the murder of 52-year-old who disappeared after leaving his girlfriend Mary Lowry's home in June 2011.

The prosecution said Quirke murdered Mr Ryan so he could rekindle an affair with Ms Lowry.

In this podcast special, our correspondent Paul Williams talks with legal affairs editor Shane Phelan and Nicola Anderson, who was present throughout the Special Criminal Court case, about the reasons that led Quirke to kill, and the decisions he took that eventually led to his downfall.

As prisoner number 107243 begins his life sentence, our three reporters give the definitive take on the Mr Moonlight murder trial.
