Stolen-monkey case delayed over witness

THE trial of a man, who denies possessing a stolen monkey and having a stun gun, has been delayed because an expert witness was not available to give evidence.

Paul Murtagh (28), of Birchdale Park, Kinsealy, Co Dublin, and Lighthouse Apartments, East Wall, Dublin 1, denies possession of a "South American Marmoset" worth €1,500.

He allegedly had the animal at Ravensdale Road, East Wall, on October 1 last.

He has also denied unlawful possession of a stun gun at Marlborough Place, Dublin 1, on October 27, 2009.

Judge Denis McLoughlin at Dublin District Court heard that a garda ballistics expert was not available to give evidence.

The hearing was adjourned until July.
