STRUCK-off solicitor Thomas Byrne is to stand trial next year in connection with theft and fraud offences totalling more than €50m.

Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that the trial will take up to three months. Judge Martin Nolan scheduled it for the start of autumn 2013.

Mr Byrne (46), of Walkinstown Road, Crumlin, faces a total of 52 offences relating to more than 20 residential properties and six banks.

All of the offences are alleged to have occurred between 2004 and 2007.

Yesterday Judge Nolan remanded him on bail until his trial date on October 8, 2013.
