Sinn Féin TD apologises after appearing in court on public order offence
A SINN Féin TD has apologised after appearing in court in relation to a public order incident.
Cork East deputy, Pat Buckley, issued an apology for any offence caused and said his behaviour was not as it should have been.
He appeared in court on Thursday in relation to an incident at his home involving gardai.
The incident occurred while he was celebrating a family event at his home.
In a statement he said:
“This was a family event, a celebratory affair involving a few drinks in my own home.
"Unfortunately, with alcohol on board, my attitude towards the Gardaí, when they arrived at my home, was not what it should have been.
"I apologise profusely for any offence caused and I accept totally the punishment handed down to me in court yesterday.”
Mr Buckley will return to Middleton district court in November for a sentence to be handed down.
