A 26-year old has gone on trial for the murder of 28-year-old rugby player Shane Geoghegan.
Barry Doyle, with an address at Portland Row, Dublin, denies murdering the man more than three years ago in Limerick.
However, the jury was told today that Mr Doyle admitted to shooting Mr Geoghegan in interviews with Gardai.
They were told that even though it was a case of mistaken identity it was still murder.
Mr Geoghegan was shot five times, including one to the back of the head.
