SF councillor on assault charge
A Sinn Féin councillor has appeared in court charged with assault.
Dermot Richardson (51), of Tymon Hall Grove, Tallaght, Dublin, is accused of assaulting a man causing him harm at Belgard Green, Tallaght, on March 12, 2017.
Mr Richardson was not present in Tallaght District Court when his case was called.
Mr Richardson's lawyer John O'Leary said his client had called to say he was sick.
Gardaí asked Judge Patricia McNamara to issue a bench warrant, saying Mr Richardson knew the court date as he had been bailed to that date.
The case went to second calling and Mr Richardson later appeared in court. The judge told him: "You seem to be well."
Judge McNamara remanded him to a date in February.
