Senior garda appointed to liase with NAMA about alleged inappropriate behaviour at the agency

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said that a senior Garda officer has been appointed to liase with NAMA about alleged inappropriate behaviour at the agency.

It has emerged that the agency has made a criminal complaint against a second former employee.

At Leader's Questions in the Dail, Mr Kenny said he agreed that the allegations had to be investigated to see if they had any substance or truth.

"It is a matter of serious concern and serious import given this is one of the largest portfolio companies in the world," he said.

Fraud detectives are now involved in a wide-ranging probe into claims of 'corrupt acts' at NAMA. Already they have questioned former employee Enda Farrell who leaked sensitive commercial data to a number of outside companies. That investigation is ongoing.

Now it has emerged that a second middle-ranking employee is also under garda scrutiny.

Sources at NAMA said last night that no current staff members are under investigation.
