Grainne Cunningham

A 20-year-old man appeared in court yesterday charged with the serious assault of a Polish man who died in hospital last month from his injuries.

Lukasz Rzeszutko (27) was attacked as he walked to work at the Newtown Industrial Estate in Coolock on October 1. He was found on the roadside at around 5am.

He had sustained serious injuries and died two days later in Beaumont Hospital.

Martin Morgan, of Tonlegee Road in Coolock, was charged with the assault at Dublin District Court yesterday.

He was remanded on bail to appear again on December 10.

The court heard that "a more serious charge" could follow.

Mr Morgan is the second person to be charged in connection with the attack. On October 4, Edward Byrne (20), from Coolock but with an address at the YMCA Hostel in Dublin 8, was charged with assaulting Mr Rzeszutko causing him harm.
