Ruling could save 40 car dealership jobs
AS MANY as 40 jobs may be saved after the High Court approved the sale of some of the assets of the country's second largest Ford dealership.
Earlier this week, the court approved the appointment of Jim Hamilton as provisional liquidator to the Finglas Motors group, which operated Ford franchises at Finglas and Blanchardstown.
The court was told the company has assets including its freehold premises on the North Road, Finglas, Dublin, worth €5.5m and has debts of €11.5m.
Yesterday, following an application by Mr Hamilton, Mr Justice David Keane approved a deal to sell some of the assets to JDM Specialist Cars Ltd, which is part of the Joe Duffy Motor Group.
The deal, which involves the buyers acquiring certain assets of Finglas Motor Group, such as the company's Finglas premises, will see 30 to 40 of the employees -- about half of the workers -- keep their jobs.
