Romanian theft girl ‘abandoned’ in Ireland, court told
A 16-YEAR-OLD Romanian girl accused of stealing a pair of boots was "abandoned" in Ireland by her mother, a court heard today.
She has been charged with theft of a pair of black boots worth €29 from a shop at the Irish Life mall, in Dublin city-centre on October 29 last.
The teenager was due to appear at Dublin Children's Court but did not turn up for her case.
Counsel for the girl told Judge Ann Ryan that “her mother abandoned her” and has left the country.
The teen has been left “taking care of her siblings” and recently has had problems with her accommodation and may have lost her summons.
Judge Ryan noted that the teenager already had another charge listed for hearing on Friday June 15 at the same court and adjourned the case until then.
