Rocca brother and bank 'in talks' on insurance dispute

SETTLEMENT talks are under way in a dispute over a €1.27m insurance policy of late property developer Patrick Rocca Jnr.

His brother, Bernard, brought a High Court case against Danske Bank.

Yesterday, on the fourth day of the action, Ross Maguire SC for Mr Rocca told Mr Justice Paul Gilligan there had been "a development". The judge agreed to adjourn the matter to this morning.

Mr Rocca claims he is the beneficiary of a Hibernia Aviva Life policy on his brother, who died in January 2009. The bank wants the money to pay off €1.5m owed on a €3.85m mortgage given to Patrick and his wife, Annette.
