Receiver appointed to houses owned by Kinahan associates
A receiver has been appointed over two properties belonging to associates of the Kinahan cartel.
The Dublin homes, owned by Liam Byrne (38) and Sean McGovern (33), were previously ruled as being the proceeds of crime.
Yesterday, CAB applied for the homes, in Grangeview Road, Clondalkin, and Kildare Road, Crumlin, to be vacated within three weeks to allow for a receiver to be appointed.
The Clondalkin property was purchased in 2006 for €270,000, but as recently as January 23 was in arrears.
A cousin of Simoan McEnroe, the partner of Liam Byrne, currently resides at this premises. The court heard that he has 17 previous convictions, including two under Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
The second property belonging to Sean McGovern, on Kildare Road, has had hundreds of thousands of euro worth of renovation carried out on it after being bought for €155,000.
Justice Carmel Stewart granted CAB the order under Section 7 of the Proceeds of Crime Act, and put a stay on the order until March 11 by when the properties must be vacated.
