Rape accused cried to gardai, court is told
A MAN accused of abducting and raping a woman cried during his first garda interview and said he had no memory of anything that happened because he "was on drugs".
The jury at the Central Criminal Court had previously heard evidence that this interview was stopped and a doctor certified the 42-year-old man unfit for interview for up to six hours.
The accused has pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexual assault, two counts of rape with a make-up pen, attempted vaginal and anal rape, oral rape and aggravated sexual assault between February 12 and 13, 2010, in Dublin.
He also denies child abduction, threats to kill or cause serious harm, false imprisonment and stealing.
The trial continues before Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy and a jury.
