Quinn Jnr appeals contempt conviction
THE jailed son of bankrupt billionaire Sean Quinn will be brought from Mountjoy Prison today to appeal his conviction for contempt of court.
Sean Quinn Jnr's Supreme Court appeal against a three-month jail term for breaking court orders not to interfere with the Quinn family's €500m international property group (IPG) will be heard less than three weeks before his release date.
A five-judge Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Mrs Justice Susan Denham, has been convened to hear the appeal, which is expected to last two days.
Sean Quinn Jnr, who was accused of one breach of court orders -- compared to three by Sean Quinn Snr and nephew Peter Darragh Quinn -- is expected to argue that his conviction and sentence is unfair and disproportionate.
The Quinn family parted company with their legal team last month, but the team remains in situ for Mr Quinn Jnr's appeal.
