A MAN and woman accused of running a brothel in Dublin have been given two weeks to consider how they are going to plead.

Bernadette Kiss (28) of Moy House, Custom House Square, Dublin 1, and 28-year-old Istvan Zeffer, with an address at Whitethorn Grove in Dublin, will appear again in court next month.

Ms Kiss has been charged at Dublin District Court with assisting in the management of a brothel at Burnell Square, Northern Cross, on the Malahide Road, in Dublin, on June 28 last. The charge also alleges she knowingly permitted the premises to be used “for the purpose of habitual prostitution”.

She faces two further counts for organising prostitution and related activities, as well as living off the earnings of another person and aiding and abetting prostitution.

Mr Zeffer had also been charged earlier with living off the earnings of prostitution.

Today a second charge was brought against him for organising prostitution by controlling and directing the activities of more than one prostitute, which is also alleged to have occurred at Burnell Square, on June 28 last year.

Garda Sile Whyte told Judge William Hamill that Mr Zeffer “made no reply” to that charge.

In an outline of the evidence, Judge Hamill was told that “two Hungarian nationals were working there as prostitutes”.

Neither defendant addressed the court during the brief hearing.

Judge Hamill remanded them on bail to appear again on June 8 when they are to enter pleas to the charges.

The judge was also told that the prosecution have already handed over copies of the evidence they have gathered to the defendants' lawyer.
