On 16 April, Independent.ie published an article which reported on the costs application relating to the defamation action brought by Nicky Kehoe against RTÉ arising out of the Saturday with Claire Byrne broadcast.

The article stated that the High Court made no order as to legal costs and that this meant that both sides would pay their own costs.

We are happy to clarify that while it is typically the case where no order as to legal costs is made that both sides pay their own costs, in this case, RTÉ has, as part of a confidential arrangement with Mr. Kehoe, agreed to make a contribution towards Mr. Kehoe’s costs.
