Murder accused not in court 'due to illness'
A YOUNG man charged with murdering his mother has been excused from attending court while he receives psychiatric treatment.
Patrick Dunne (20), of Ballinageragh, Lixnaw, Co Kerry, had been due to be brought before Listowel District Court yesterday but was not there "due to illness".
The court heard he required psychiatric treatment as an inpatient at the Central Mental Hospital in Dundrum.
Mr Dunne was charged with the murder of his mother, Susan Dunne (62), at Ballinageragh, Lixnaw, Co Kerry, on or around November 27.
Judge Tim Lucey remanded him in custody by consent to the December 18 sitting of the court but excused his presence on that date also.
