Mum appears in court after €1.4m cannabis and cocaine seizure
A mother-of-one yesterday appeared at a special sitting of Dublin District Court charged with having cannabis for sale or supply.
Susan McNeil (32), from Dublin 8, was arrested on Friday by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, which has been targeting serious and organised criminal activity in the Dublin region.
A search operation, supported by the Special Crime Task Force, took place on Friday in the Kings House apartment complex, Bow Lane, Dublin 8.
During the Garda operation, cannabis and cocaine with an estimated street value of €1.4m were seized.
Garda Susan Plunkett yesterday gave evidence that Ms McNeil made no reply when charged under Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
She was released on bail of a €500 cash lodgement and a €500 surety.
The judge imposed a number of conditions: that she sign on at Naas garda station every day between 9am and 9pm, surrender her passport and give a mobile phone number to gardaí and be contactable at all times.
She has also given a commitment to reside at a specific address, which she has given to gardaí and the court.
Ms McNeil was remanded to appear at Dublin District Court again on May 14.
Wearing a long coat and black trousers, and with her left hand bandaged, Ms McNeil sat quietly in court as the case was being heard.
A 48-year-old man who was also arrested in relation to the seizure of drugs was released from custody on Saturday evening.
A file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
