A MOTHER and her teenage daughter have been accused of shoplifting and having a "foil-lined" bag as a device to help them steal.
The woman (34) and the girl, who is in her mid-teens, were charged at the Children's Court with stealing designer Ray Ban sunglasses worth €219 from a shop on Nassau Street, in Dublin city-centre on May 23 last.
The mother and daughter, who are from Romania, are also accused of handling stolen clothes including assorted underwear, socks and trousers to the value of E150 on the same date.
A third charge was brought against them for possession of a “foil-lined handbag” for use as an implement in the course of theft.
Judge John Coughlan ordered gardai to hand over copies of CCTV evidence to the defence.
He remanded the woman and her teenage daughter on bail to appear again in September when they are to enter pleas to the charges.
