Two men have been charged after allegedly leading gardaí on a chase on the M50 and M1 following two burglaries.

Darren Kelly, a 23-year-old from Killucan, Co Westmeath, and Gerry Wall (19), from Fortunestown Crescent in Tallaght, Dublin, were charged at Dún Laoghaire District Court yesterday.

Each was accused of two counts of burglary, possession of a stolen BMW car, and having false registration plates fitted to the vehicle.

All the alleged offences date back to last Thursday, when gardaí spotted the car on the M50 after an alert had been put out for it.

Applications for bail were objected to by gardaí, and denied. Both men were remanded in custody to appear in court again next week.
