Married father-of-four (45) appears in court charged with murder of Irene White
A man has been charged with the murder of mother of three Irene White in Dundalk in April 2005.
Niall Power (45), a married father of four, from Gyles Quay in Dundalk was brought before Dundalk District Court having been arrested at Dundalk Garda Station last night.
Detective Sergeant Mick Sheridan told judge John Coughlan that he charged Power at 11.07pm last night and that Power had made no reply.
Power, dressed in dark clothing and wearing glasses, was remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court via video link on February 8.
He was granted free legal aid.
Some members of Irene White's family were present in court this morning.
On Monday another man, Anthony Lambe (34), from Annadrumman, Castleblaney, Co Monaghan, was sentenced to life for murder for the same crime.
