Man to be charged with fatal stabbing of Dublin grandfather Michael Gannon
A man in his twenties is due to appear in court today in connection with the stabbing of a granddad in Skerries while he was babysitting his grandchildren.
Michael Gannon (55) died when he was stabbed in the heart on the doorstep of his daughter's home in Skerries, Dublin, where he was minding her two children aged five and nine.
A 29-year-old Romanian man was arrested by gardai a short time after the attack at the house next door.
The man has been held in custody since the attack, and he will now appear at the Criminal Courts of Justice at 4.30pm today.
Gardai found Mr Gannon collapsed and fatally wounded when they went to the house. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr Gannon, from Cappagh Avenue in Finglas, was babysitting for his daughter Jade when he was stabbed.
