Man remanded on 'steel-pipe shotgun' charge

A man has been charged in court with possessing a gun made from steel piping.

Gordon Ryan Jnr (19), of Greenfields, Rosbrien, Limerick, was charged with having the crude shotgun in suspicious circumstances on Sunday.

The weapon was made from "steel piping designed to function as a 12-gauge shotgun", according to the charge sheet.

Mr Ryan was arrested on Sunday in connection with a shooting in which Cian Quinn (21) sustained around 20 pellet wounds. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Judge Eugene O'Kelly remanded Mr Ryan in custody. He is due to reappear at Limerick District Court via video link on July 2.
