Man is sent for trial over girls' road deaths

A MAN charged in connection with the deaths of two little girls in a road collision in Co Galway has been sent for trial.

John O'Connor, of Waterslade Downs in Tuam, is charged with dangerous driving causing the deaths of two-year-old Kate Gilmore and her three-month-old sister, Grace, on the Milltown Road on the outskirts of Tuam on October 21, 2012.

He also faces a charge of intentionally or recklessly driving a vehicle after having twice received medical advice not to drive.

At Tuam District Court yesterday, Judge Denis McLoughlin returned Mr O'Connor for trial at Galway Circuit Criminal Court on July 2.

The two children died after being struck by a car while out walking with their father John, who was seriously injured.
