Man (34) pleads guilty to 2005 murder of mum-of-three Irene White

A 34-year-old has pleaded guilty to the murder of a mother-of-three in her home 13 years ago.

Anthony Lambe (34) from Annadrumman, Castleblayney, Co Monaghan pleaded guilty to the murder of Irene White (43) in the kitchen of Ice House, Demesne Road, Dundalk, Co Louth on April 6, 2005.

Mr Lambe appeared briefly in front of Justice Patrick McCarthy at the Central Criminal Court this morning. When arraigned on the charge he replied: "Guilty judge."

He will be sentenced later today.

Irene White was stabbed to death in the house where she lived with her family beside Ice House Hill Park in Dundalk.

Her mother, Maureen McBride, found her lying dead in the kitchen when she called to the house at around 12.30pm that day.
