A MAN appeared in court yesterday charged with the murder of a young mother of two at her home in Dublin.
Anna Finnegan (26) was attacked in Allendale Glen in Ongar, Blanchardstown on Friday night.
She was later left at the entrance to the A&E department of James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown, but was pronounced dead about an hour and a half later.
Her two young children, aged two and nine months, were asleep upstairs in the house at the time.
Her brother Karl was also injured in the attack and is in a stable condition in hospital.
Vezel Jahiri (31) with an address at Lohunda Crescent in Clonsilla appeared before Blanchardstown District Court yesterday where he was charged with murder.
He is from Kosovo but has been living in Ireland for the last 17 years.
He is the father of her two young children.
With his white blonde hair tightly shaven, he wore a light-grey hoodie, dark-grey tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.
He sat motionless in court as the details of his charge were read to Judge Hugh O'Donnell.
There were no family or friends of the dead woman or the accused present in court.
The accused was arrested at Blanchardstown Garda Station at 11.56 pm on Sunday night. When formally charged with murder at 12.20am, he replied: "That's not true."
No objection was made to his seeking legal aid.
An order for medical treatment for Mr Jahiri has been sought but when asked if it was for "anything specific," a solicitor for the State replied no.
He has been remanded in custody to Cloverhill and will appear before Cloverhill District Court on Thursday.
