Lawyers for Eamon Kelly murder accused ask for more time

Brian Kavanagh

LAWYERS for a Dublin man charged with murdering veteran criminal Eamon Kelly have asked for more time to consider evidence disclosed in the case.

In December last year Sean Connolly (34), of Bernard Curtis House, Bluebell, appeared before a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court charged with murdering Mr Kelly at Furry Park Road, Killester on Dublin’s north-side, on December 4th, 2012.

Mr Connolly was also charged with IRA membership and with possession of a firearm on the same occasion.

Counsel for the accused man, Ms Siobhan Ni Chulachain BL, this morning (Wednesday) told the non-jury court that the defence were furnished with a large amount of disclosure last week and required time to consider the material.

She asked that the court list the case for mention again on November 29th.

Presiding judge Mr Justice Paul Butler said the court would remand Mr Connolly, who appeared before the court via video link, in custody until that date.
