Kennedy trial over council bribes resumes
THE corruption trial of businessman Jim Kennedy and four county councillors has been adjourned until this morning at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
Judge Mary Ellen Ring has told the jury that key witness Frank Dunlop cannot resume his evidence until next Monday, July 22. The trial had been expected to finish by July 31.
Former lobbyist Frank Dunlop has testified that James Kennedy gave him IR£25,000 in 1991 to bribe four councillors to vote in favour of rezoning land at Carrickmines as industrial.
Mr Kennedy, of Cormorant Way, Queens Quay, Gibraltar, has pleaded not guilty to 16 counts of making corrupt payments between June 1992 and October 1997 to members of Dublin County Council.
