Judge warns jury of 'fireside lawyers' online
Judge Patricia Smyth warned the 12-person jury panel not to carry out independent research into the case online.
The presiding judge in the case of Paddy Jackson, Stuart Olding, Blane McIlroy and Rory Harrison also cautioned the panel of nine men and three women on the opinions of "fireside lawyers".
Judge Smyth said views aired had been "ill-informed" and told the jury to ignore all publicity around the case.
She urged them to assess the case on the evidence "you see and hear in this courtroom and nothing else".
The judge made the warning to the jury before the cross examination of the alleged victim by Mr Jackson's barrister, Brendan Kelly QC, resumed yesterday.
The alleged victim is due back on the witness stand today at Belfast Crown Court.
