Heartbroken son names new baby after slain mum
SOPHIE Toscan du Plantier's only child -- Pierre Louis (31) -- has paid tribute to his late mother by naming his new baby girl Sophie.
Pierre Louis, who was born to Sophie and her first husband, Pierre Bauday, was just 15 years old when his mother was brutally murdered near her west Cork holiday home.
His first child was born a few months ago in France.
Sophie's parents were thrilled when Pierre Louis asked for the girl to be named Sophie.
The isolated farmhouse in Cork that his mother had converted to her precise design in the early 1990s has since been left to Pierre Louis.
He now uses the property as an occasional summer retreat -- and provides its use for his grandparents, Georges and Marguerite Bouniol, when they travel to west Cork to mark the anniversary of Sophie's death each Christmas.
Pierre Louis also accompanied his step-father, Daniel Toscan du Plantier, to west Cork in 2000 when the French film executive met with senior gardai to be briefed on the investigation into his wife's murder.
Daniel Toscan du Plantier died in February 2003 from a heart attack while attending the Berlin Film Festival.
