Heart attack woman died of hypothermia
AN ELDERLY woman died from hypothermia when she had a mild heart attack and collapsed on the floor, an inquest heard yesterday.
Carmel Fagan (77), from Lower Buckingham Street in north inner city Dublin, was found by relatives a number of hours after she had collapsed on January 8 this year. She subsequently died at the Mater Hospital.
The post-mortem found evidence that Ms Fagan, who had a history of heart disease, had suffered a mild heart attack which may have caused her to collapse unconscious.
The cause of death was given as hypothermia leading to multi-organ failure. Coroner Dr Brian Farrell returned a verdict of death by misadventure.
