Geoghegan-Quinn's son in court
THE son of newly-appointed EU commissioner Maire Geoghegan-Quinn appeared in court yesterday charged with two public order offences.
Cormac Quinn (30), of 5 Woodfield, Cappagh Road, Galway, was charged with being drunk and a danger to himself and others at Forster Street, Galway, on February 8.
He was also charged with refusing to obey the directions of a garda to leave the area when directed to do so on the same occasion. Inspector Mick Coppinger said Quinn made no reply when cautioned.
Judge Mary Fahy remanded Mr Quinn on continuing bail to appear before Galway District Court again on April 8 when the matter will be heard. Mr Quinn, who was wearing jeans and a green combat-style jacket, stood at the back wall of the courtroom near the door throughout the brief hearing.
