Former garda’s murder: two men arrested
GARDAI investigating the murder of a former member of the force have arrested two men.
The body of John Kerins was found in his home near Bailieboro in Cavan last November.
He had been shot in the upper body.
Mr Kerins, 49, had been a detective in the northeast, and had also worked in the fraud squad in Dublin.
He was medically discharged from the force in 2009.
He was a suspect in relation to the disappearance of a local man a year-and-a-half ago.
This morning gardai at Baileboro arrested two men in connection with the investigation.
Both men are detained at Carrickmacross Garda Station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.
A number of searches are also taking place in the Baileboro area in connection.
