Father of footballer to get book of evidence
THE publican father of Celtic striker Anthony Stokes will be served with a book of evidence next month on charges of assault, threats, and possession of stun guns.
John Stokes (54) -- owner of the Players Lounge pub in Fairview, Dublin -- made his fourth appearance at Dublin District Court yesterday.
Mr Stokes had been charged in May along with three others.
The charges allege that on March 13 they made a demand with menaces to cease trading and "close within 24 hours" to Shane Simpson, the former leaseholder of the Castle public house, in Summerhill, north inner city, Dublin.
In September, additional charges were brought against Mr Stokes for assaulting Mr Simpson on March 13 last.
The accused were remanded on continuing bail to appear again on December 2.
