Fair City's 'Zumo' who bit and punched former partner pays more compensation ahead of sentence hearing
A FAIR City star who bit and punched his ex-girlfriend in an attack at his home has paid another €500 to her in compensation.
Patrick Fitzpatrick (33) made the instalment in court today and has now paid €1,500 over the attack at his home. He is due to pay a total of €2000.
Judge David Waters adjourned the case until January next year for him to come up with the balance before sentencing.
Fitzpatrick, who played the Zumo Bishop character in the hit RTE soap was remanded on continuing bail Dublin District Court.
He potentially faces a maximum jail term of one year in prison.
Fitzpatrick pleaded guilty last February to assault causing harm to Theresa Gannon at his home at Hollytree Terrace, Ballymun on September 4, 2015.
Today, Judge Waters noted there was a probation report on file. Defence solicitor Philip Hannon said the €500 was in court today and this was handed over to a garda sergeant.
The case was adjourned for the attention of Judge John Lindsay, who had originally dealt with it.
Mr Fitzpatrick, wearing a grey overcoat, scarf, navy trousers and black shoes, did not address the judge.
Previously, the court heard the victim was at the accused’s home on the day in question when he became aggressive.
He threw two punches at her face and bit her right upper arm. She was left with bruising to her right eye but the bite did not break her skin.
On the last court date, Garda Niall Carolan handed in a copy of a medical report on the vicitm's injuries. She had made a full recovery, he said.
A probation report on Fitzpatrick was positive.
Mr Hannon added that the comprehensive probation report contained a "specific recommendation."
The charge of assault causing harm is under Section 3 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act.
Fitzpatrick last made an appearance on Fair City in 2016. He had played the Zumo character between 2007 and 2013.
