Ex-partner 'told gardai of Dwyer stab fantasy'
A FORMER partner of Graham Dwyer told gardaí she had a normal relationship with the architect until 1994 when he revealed that he fantasised about stabbing a woman during sex.
Emer McShea, the mother of Mr Dwyer's adult son Sennan McShea, has already given evidence in the trial of Mr Dwyer who denies murdering Elaine O'Hara on August 22, 2012.
A statement from Ms McShea was read to Mr Dwyer during a series of garda interviews after he was arrested on October 17, 2013. When detectives interviewing Mr Dwyer informed him that colleagues had travelled to Ballyshannon to speak with Ms McShea, Mr Dwyer replied "she would not be friendly to me".
Ms McShea told gardaí she was in a relationship with Mr Dwyer between 1991 and 1996 and gave birth to their son Sennan McShea in 1992. Ms McShea's statement, read to Mr Dwyer during his detention in garda custody, said that after he revealed his fantasy to her in 1994, he would bring a knife into their bedroom and leave it on the floor and later held the knife during sex. Ms McShea also identified Mr Dwyer to gardaí from a series of CCTV stills.
When the statement was read to Mr Dwyer during garda interviews, he said: "Oh my God" and told gardai that Ms McShea would have enjoyed reading the statement and she would be "delighted" to see him in trouble.
Mr Dwyer told gardaí his relationship with Ms McShea was "quite adversarial". He told detectives they were last in touch in 2007 or 2008 "around the time our son Sennan got cancer". Mr Dwyer also told gardaí that he stopped paying maintenance since his son left college.
The trial continues.
